Avensia builds Coop Norge's new e-commerce solution - and opens an office in Oslo
Avensia, Scandinavia’s largest e-commerce provider, builds new e-commerce solution for Coop Norge. The new platform is based on Episerver Commerce and the range will cover specialty goods - sports, electronics and building supplies. Avensia is already established in Norway by previous customer projects and now also opens its first office in Oslo.
Coop Norge operates both grocery- and specialty stores, where they are the price leader in building supplies. They have marked a great need for growing online and therefore chose Episerver Commerce platform for their new e-commerce. As Scandinavia’s most experienced provider with a number of strong references Avensia was trusted to implement the solution. E-commerce initiative covers the whole field of specialty stores, containing among other products sports, electronics and building supplies.
"We have a complex range of products and we chose Avensia because they appeared to be very competent and experienced, says Jarle Haakenstad, service manager Web & Portals at Coop Norge Handel. We also got inspired by Avensia’s existing customers, especially Intersport.se, because they use components that we were also interested in."
The project has started with Avensia preparing an analysis with specification and visualisation of the user interface. After the holidays in August the implementation of the Episerver platform and PIM system from InRiver began. E-commerce solution will also be equipped with search- and relevance engine eSales from Apptus, which personalises the shopping experience for each particular client.
"We need a good PIM support for our complex range that can manage all product information, says Jarle Haakenstad. Avensia and their partner InRiver are a good match for us. This means that we can feel secure about our choice as Avensia has already completed several similar projects, which was important for us, also in the long term."
A first version will be ready for launch in 2015, but the project is a part of a long-term plan. Since Coop has an extensive product range they are going to initially begin with specialty stores and then broaden the range.
"Episerver Commerce is an e-commerce platform that is the strongest on the market right now, says Jörgen Bertilsson, Deputy Executive Director at Avensia. We have a growing demand for large e-commerce solutions outside the Swedish borders, which is incredibly exciting. In pursuit of the vision to become the market leader in Europe, we are growing in pace with this demand. Our customer base in Norway is expanding rapidly and therefore we have decided to open a new office in Oslo."
